Mt Hutt is located northeast of Methven and is home to one of the finest skifields in the entire southern hemisphere. It is a skiing enthusiast's delight offering a variety of runs with the longest being 2 kms. Mt Hutt enjoys a long consistent winter season year after year extending from June to October.
The Mt Hutt ski area is an open bowl rising to 2,075 metres and has stunning views of the Canterbury Plains. The base complex has a modern cafe, bar, restaurant, creche, equipment hire and skiing courses.
Mt Hutt Accommodation
There is no in-house accommodation. Methven is the ideal place for all your accommodation needs. Christchurch city is a 90 minute drive from Mt Hutt and you can set up base there if you are willing to travel.
Mt Hutt Activities
The Mt Hutt Skifield is made up of two landscaped half pipes and a freestyle terrain park. Mt Hutt has some of the finest powder snow in the southern hemisphere and offers a great skiing and snowboarding experience.
There are buses running return trips from Methven and Christchurch to Mt Hutt, dropping off visitors in the morning and picking them in the evening. Methven comes alive in the winter season and is a hub of activity with visitors from all parts of the world converging on Mt Hutt for an exhilarating season of skiing.
